Our Vision
“Ensuring economic and social development of excluded and marginalized communities through appropriate intervention that empowers the communities, with emphasis on the deprived and marginalized cross-section in the society”
Key Interventions
Child Rights & Protection
Child Rights & Protection
ASK supports children of artisans in Moradabad, Sambhal, Barabanki and Kodarma, and Uttar Pradesh, helping over 5,000 leave hazardous work for education and basic rights. Since 1997, a pilot in Moradabad’s Rehmat Nagar has grown into a model child protection and education program
Know MoreAccess to Health & Nutrition
Access to Health & Nutrition
Access to healthcare is challenging for poor communities due to high costs. To address this, ASK launched a tech-based solution benefiting women and bridging the digital divide. Under the Access to Health (Swasth Sankalp) program, we support vulnerable communities in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh.
Know MoreGovernance and Access to Entitlements
Governance and Access to Entitlements
ASK identified gaps in people's knowledge and awareness about accessing government schemes that provide social security, economic benefits, and job guarantees, particularly affecting women, the elderly, children, Dalits, and persons with disabilities.
Know MoreMigration
Migration
Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are hotspots for the highest migration of unskilled and blue-collar workers to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The aspiration to improve economic status has, for generations, led many into exploitative conditions. Illegal agents, high visa payments, travel on tourist visas, and a lack of insurance coverage have made these workers vulnerable to modern slavery.
Know MoreLivelihoods
Livelihoods
ASK works to strengthen rural livelihoods by equipping marginalized families—especially women and small farmers—with sustainable income-generating skills, improved agricultural practices, and linkages to government and market systems. Our livelihood interventions focus on promoting climate smart agriculture, strengthening Farmer Interest Groups (FIGs), facilitating credit access, and market linkages.

Our Leadership
Dr. Aqueel Khan
Dr. Khan, Honorary Founding Director of the Association for Stimulating Know-How (ASK), has over three decades of experience in advancing child rights and addressing gender issues. His journey began in 1989 with ChildFund India, where he collaborated with grassroots NGOs to lead a flagship initiative combating child labor in Firozabad’s bangle industry. Through this initiative, he engaged stakeholders and government bodies to drive systemic change.
In 1995, Dr. Khan co-founded ASK, an organization dedicated to empowering grassroots initiatives in championing child protection and rights. Four years later, he launched ASK Sankalp, a program focused on maternal and child healthcare, with a particular emphasis on supporting children in the brassware industry and empowering mothers—an initiative that continues to make a meaningful impact today.
Dr. Khan holds a Ph.D. in Gender Studies from the esteemed Jamia Millia Islamia University, underscoring his commitment to advancing the rights of marginalized women and children. With extensive experience across India and South Asia, he remains a steadfast advocate for equitable development and social justice.
